Nigerian Army DSSC Recruitment Form 2026 is out, See How to Apply for Course 29
The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026. This recruitment exercise provides qualified Nigerians an opportunity to be commissioned as officers in specialist corps and services of the Nigerian Army.
The application process is free of charge and open to both civilians and serving military personnel who meet the required criteria.
About the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC)
The Direct Short Service Commission is designed to recruit professionals with specialized qualifications into the Nigerian Army to fill technical and professional roles.
Successful candidates will undergo military training and, upon completion, will be commissioned into the Nigerian Army as officers. The DSSC is granted for a fixed term, with the possibility of conversion to Regular Commission based on performance and Army requirements.

Only serving military personnel sponsored to civil institutions by any Service of the Armed Forces shall be considered where applicable.
Entry Requirements for Nigerian Army DSSC Recruitment 2026
Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

Be a Nigerian citizen by birth

Be of good character and be recommended by at least two referees
-
Be medically, mentally, and physically fit according to Nigerian Army standards
-
Be between 20 and 32 years by 30 March 2026
-
Medical consultants may be up to 40 years
-

Have a minimum of First Degree or HND (Second Class Lower or Upper Credit where applicable) from a recognized institution
-
Possess valid professional registration where required
-
Possess a valid birth certificate or age declaration
-
Possess a certificate of state of origin
-
Possess NIN and BVN
-
Must not have been convicted by any court of law
-
Must not belong to any cult or secret society
-
Male applicants must be at least 1.68m tall, females 1.65m
Serving military personnel must be free from disciplinary cases and endorsed by their Commanding Officers.
Conditions of Service

The DSSC is granted for 15 years
-
Officers are placed on probation for the first 3 years
-
Conversion to Regular Commission is not automatic
-
Rank granted after training depends on corps and qualification

Medical consultants may be commissioned with seniority where applicable
